Intercultural Therapy · Seattle & TelehealthTherapy for Brazilians and immigrants in Seattle
Support from a therapist who has walked the same path: a Brazilian immigrant who has called Seattle home since 2007.

You don't have to leave parts of yourself behind
Moving to a new country is a deeply personal journey. It can bring growth and new possibilities, and it also involves real losses: family and friends far away, a language that once felt effortless, community, professional status, and a familiar sense of who you are.
Many immigrants describe living "in between": no longer fully at home in their country of origin, and not yet at home in the one they chose. I know this feeling well. I'm Brazilian, from Salvador, Bahia, married to an American, and I have lived in Seattle since 2007.
Healing never happens outside of culture. In our work together, your language, your family, your traditions and your values are all welcome.

Saudade, the "Seattle Freeze" and finding your place
Brazilians often bring warmth, closeness and spontaneity to their relationships, and Seattle's more reserved social culture can feel lonely at first. Add the long, gray winters, the distance from family, and the effort of building a life in a second language, and it's no surprise that many people feel overwhelmed or isolated.
Therapy can be a space to speak in Portuguese, be understood without having to explain your culture, and find your footing again. Terapia em português →
I can help with:
- Cultural adjustment in your relationships and your career
- Grief for what was left behind, and homesickness
- Identity shifts: feeling like a stranger both here and back home
- Bicultural couples and multicultural families
- Parenting across two or more cultures
- Life transitions far from home: marriage, new motherhood, loss, a new career
- Trauma, anxiety and stress linked to migration and documentation
- Loneliness, isolation and rebuilding community
Intercultural and somatic
My work combines an intercultural perspective with somatic therapy. Migration and trauma are not only stories we tell; they also live in the body, as tension, exhaustion, or a nervous system that never quite feels safe. Together we gently support your nervous system to return to a sense of safety, grounding and vitality. About somatic therapy →
